Norwich City have joined the race for Juventus defender Frederik Sorensen, who came close to signing for Leeds United earlier this summer.

Leeds had thrashed out a fee with Juventus to take Sorensen to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal, but saw the agreement collapse when the player flew to England to seal the switch.

Sorensen has since attracted interest from Genoa, Olympiacos and Hellas Verona, the latter of the trio pushing hardest for his signature.

Now Norwich have inserted themselves into the scramble for the Dane, according to Sky Italia.

Norwich are searching for a new centre-back before the transfer window slams shut and have set their sights on Sorensen.

Juventus signed Sorensen from Lyngby in 2010, before sending him to Bologna in a co-ownership deal two years later.

This summer they took advantage of an option to purchase the defender outright.
