Manuel Pellegrini has praised the performance of Steven Jovetic last night and said that the striker deserves the recognition that he is receiving after an injury plagued last season.
The Montenegrin scored a brace in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Liverpool last night at the Etihad Stadium.
"Stevan worked hard for the whole game also without the ball", Pellegrini told the club’s official site.
The Chilean is happy for Jovetic as the striker had a wretched first season at the club where he was plagued with injuries.
"He was very unlucky last season but we never doubted his quality and I am very happy for him because he deserves to start this season the way he has.

Pellegrini also indicated that Jovetic might be his first choice striker and feels that he can partner either Sergio Aguero or Alvaro Negredo, once both of them are 100% fit.
"At the moment, it is difficult to say who is the best striking partner for him because Alvaro Negredo is injured and Kun Aguero is not yet 100% but he can play with anyone.
“He is a top player.”
