Tottenham Hotspur have been rebuffed by AC Milan in an attempt to swap striker Roberto Soldado for defender Mattia De Sciglio.

AC Milan are on the lookout for a new striker having offloaded Mario Balotelli to Liverpool for £16m earlier this week, but only want to conclude a loan capture.

Spurs' misfiring Spaniard Soldado has been considered an option by the Rossoneri, although Chelsea's Fernando Torres remains their primary target.

Tottenham though made clear they will not loan Soldado and are only looking for a permanent arrangement over the Spaniard.

Mauricio Pochettino's men informed AC Milan that they are free to take Soldado, if De Sciglio heads to White Hart Lane in part-exchange.

However, according to Sky Italia, the Serie A giants made clear that they are not willing to part with De Sciglio, who they consider their most promising young player.

AC Milan's interest in Soldado now appears to be dead, with the Rossoneri only wanting the striker on loan, something Spurs have made clear they will not consider.
