Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has insisted that the club will only sell Manchester United target Daley Blind this summer if an ‘absolute top price’ is offered for the Dutch international.

Blind was one of the top performers of Louis van Gaal’s Dutch national team side that finished third in the World Cup.

Since Van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford as the club’s manager earlier this year the 24-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to England.

Speculation reached a fever pitch yesterday when Edwin van der Saar, one of the directors at Ajax and a former Manchester United number one, was spotted at the club’s Carrington training ground.

However, Overmars stressed that Ajax would like to hold onto Blind this summer and if a club are ready to pay an ‘absolute top price’ only then they will sit at the negotiating table for the full-back.

The 41-year-old conceded that next summer they might water down their demands for Blind and settle for a ‘reasonable price’ for the 24-year-old.

"We believe that we currently have a strong team and want Daley to stay for another year", the former Dutch international told De Telegraaf.

"Only if the absolute top price is paid is a transfer negotiable.

"Daley's management know how we feel at the moment.

"Next year we will have a much more lenient policy, we are willing to talk with Daley and we will settle for a reasonable price."
