Sevilla are on the verge of wrapping up the signing of Gaston Ramirez from Southampton on a season-long loan deal.

Los Rojiblancos tried to capture the Uruguayan attacking midfielder last summer, but could not get their man. However, they look set to succeed with a renewed attempt.

According to Spanish daily Marca, talks are currently taking place between Sevilla and Southampton, and last term's Europa League winners are confident a deal is on the cards.

Ramirez will arrive at the club on a season-long loan deal, with Sevilla having the right to make his move permanent should he impress.

Southampton snapped up Ramirez from Italian side Bologna in 2012, beating Liverpool to his signature in what was considered a coup.

However, Ramirez struggled to adapt to English football and fell by the wayside under Mauricio Pochettino at St. Mary's.

Pochettino has since departed and took charge of Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, but it appears Ramirez will not stick around to make the grade under new boss Ronald Koeman.
