Sunderland have secured the arrival of Inter playmaker Ricardo Alvarez, after the Nerazzurri agreed to allow the Argentine to leave the San Siro.

Alvarez is now set to fly to England, having been convinced by Sunderland boss Gus Poyet to quit Italy and switch to the Stadium of Light.



Alvarez will link up with Sunderland on a season-long loan initially, which will cost the Black Cats €1m, according to Sky Italia.

However, should Sunderland avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, Poyet's men will pay Inter €11m to keep Alvarez on a permanent basis.

 


The Argentine, who has won seven senior international caps, will earn €1.6m net per year at the English outfit.

Alvarez had been chased by Arsenal before linking up with Inter in the summer of 2011, with the Nerazzurri signing the 26-year-old to replace Wesley Sneijder, although the Dutchman stayed put and only departed in January 2013.

The creative midfielder has a contract which Inter which runs until 2018 and turned out 29 times for the club in Serie A last term, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.
