Portuguese outfit Benfica are keen to secure the services of Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, according to Spanish daily Marca.

Having signed for Arsenal in 2011, the Costa Rican has spent the last three years on loan at various clubs, with his most impressive performances coming during a stint with Olympiacos last season.

In the 43 matches that he played for the Greek side, he managed to score 11 goals and was also impressive for Costa Rica during the World Cup in Brazil.

As a result, the youngster has attracted interest from a number of top clubs, with a long line of sides interested in the player.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger though has insisted that he would like to keep the striker at Emirates this season, with Campbell having "matured a lot" over time.

"I would like to keep him here, he has trained very well and matured a lot", Wenger said at a press conference recently.

Arsenal's problems on the attacking front have mounted this season with first choice striker Olivier Giroud being ruled out with injury.

Wenger might therefore use Campbell as an alternative to replace the French international.
