Borussia Dortmund could move to re-sign Manchester United attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa in the last leg of the transfer window.

The Japanese playmaker, who had a torrid time at Manchester United under former boss David Moyes last season, joined the club from Dortmund in 2012.

Kagawa made only 18 league appearances for the Red Devils and failed to score a single goal in all competitions in the last campaign.

With new manager Louis van Gaal preferring Juan Mata in the attacking midfielder’s role, Kagawa is not expected to feature regularly this term.

The 25-year-old could well be open to a move away from Old Trafford even this late in the window and Dortmund are keeping a close eye on proceedings in England.

The German oufit are thinking of making a last ditch move for the 26-year-old to bring Kagawa back to the club, according to German magazine Kicker.

Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the Japanese playmaker and Kagawa flourished under his tutelage, where he scored 29 goals in 71 appearances, before leaving for Manchester United.
