Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has revealed that his team are acting fast in the transfer market and are in the middle of finalising something surprising.

The Black Cats have remained relatively quiet on the transfer front and if the manager is to be believed, they are expected to come up with something special before the window closes on 1st September.

Poyet's team are close to signing Argentine attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez on loan from Inter Milan, having reached an agreement with the Italian side.

Since joining Inter Milan in 2011, Alvarez has played a total of 90 matches for the Nerazzurri, scoring 14 goals.

The 26-year-old might well turn out to be Poyet's alternative for Liverpool's Fabio Borini, if the deal for the Italian fails.

"We're moving, we're moving very fast because it's getting close", the 46-year-old was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I'm confident we'll be doing something. You're going to be surprised."

Lille striker Salomon Kalou has also been linked with a move to Stadium of Light.
