Hull City are ready to make a move for Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez from Palermo.

The Palermo striker’s future in Italy is under a cloud as the Premier League pair of Sunderland and Southampton have been interested in signing him this summer.

Palermo rejected an offer from Sunderland to take the 23-year-old on loan earlier this month and Southampton are still keeping a close eye on the Uruguayan.

However, Hull are the latest club to join the scrap to sign the Uruguayan international in the last days of the transfer window.

Steve Bruce is desperate to bring a forward to the KC Stadium in the next few days as a replacement for Shane Long, who joined the Saints this month.

Bruce has turned his attention towards Hernandez and is trying to beat off competition from Sunderland for his signature, according to ITV.

Hull are desperate for a striker, but it remains to be seen whether Palermo are willing to sell one of their regular starters so late in the window.
