Leeds United boss David Hockaday insists he is happy with his team selection against Bradford City in the League Cup last night, explaining Gaetano Berardi and Rodolph Austin were unavailable.

Hockaday watched his side go down to a 2-1 defeat at Valley Parade, despite having taken the lead with ten men, Luke Murphy being sent off in the 31st minute.

The Leeds manager was unhappy with the defeat, but was quick to insist that he did not regret the team he fielded and had his hands tied through unavailable players.

"Berardi's got concussion. He's out, that's taken out of my hands. He did an overhead kick two days ago and landed on his neck", he explained to LUTV.

"And Rudi stepped out of training yesterday with a hamstring", Hockaday continued.

"I think the team pretty much selected itself and I'm really happy with the team we picked. I thought with eleven men we looked good, we had a few chances."

The Leeds boss has been under pressure of late and was nearly sacked on Saturday, before owner Massimo Cellino performed a U-turn and agreed to keep him on at Elland Road.

Hockaday will be hoping Leeds can return to winning ways this coming weekend when Bolton Wanderers pay Elland Road a visit.
