Angel di Maria has revealed that lack of Champions League football was not an issue when he decided to join Manchester United, due to the size of the Red Devils.

Di Maria was officially unveiled as a Manchester United player earlier today in a press conference and the Argentine will wear the iconic number 7 shirt at Old Trafford.




The former Real Madrid player said that Manchester United are one of the most successful clubs in the world and he will do his best to restore their pre-eminent position in club football.

"Manchester United have already won many trophies and are a very big team”, the 26-year-old said in a press conference.
 


“I have come to help raise the game and become an important team once again. I want to win many trophies with them.”

Di Maria said that lack of Champions League football was not an issue that was going to stop him from joining the Red Devils.

However, he added that he will try to get the club back into Europe’s elite club competition as soon as possible.

"I'm very pleased to play for Manchester United. I like the team and I wanted to come here even though they're not playing in the Champions League.

“I want to help the team get into the Champions League. I'm pleased with the manager for choosing me to come to Manchester United."

The Argentine is expected to make his debut against Burnley this Saturday. Unlike his compatriot, Marcos Rojo, Di Maria is not facing issues regarding work permit as he holds an Italian passport.
