Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is preparing to lodge the club's first bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, despite the likelihood it will be rejected.

Rabiot has just one year left to run on his contract at the Parc des Princes and has refused to sign an extension, citing concerns over the amount of first team football he is receiving.

Arsenal are interested in the midfielder, along with Italian sides AC Milan, Juventus and Inter.

However, it is Wenger's men who are in pole position for Rabiot, following his mother having met with the Arsenal boss earlier this week to discuss a move for her son.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, an Arsenal offer for Rabiot is now imminent and will throw the ball into PSG's court.

The Gunners will lodge a bid of between £5m and £6m for Rabiot, even though they are aware PSG are looking for a higher sum.

Indeed, the French champions are thought to value Rabiot at around £10m, despite him having just a single year remaining on his contract at the club.
