Tottenham Hotspur have moved quickly to do a deal for Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, with the player's club side announcing an agreement has been reached.

Stambouli, who had also been interesting Swansea City, has just one year left to run on his contract at the Stade de la Mosson and has been eyeing the exit door.



Montpellier announced: "MHSC and Tottenham Hotspur FC have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Benjamin Stambouli.

"He will go to London in the next few hours to undergo a medical and finalise his contract", they added.

 


Stambouli is a product of Montpellier's youth system and helped the club win the Ligue 1 title in the 2011/12 campaign.

The former France Under-21 international is now poised to continue his career at White Hart Lane and will become the sixth player the club have bagged this summer.

Spurs have already signed DeAndre Yedlin, Federico Fazio, Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Michel Vorm.
