Liverpool and Manchester United are bidding to take their fierce rivalry off the pitch by going head-to-head for Norwegian sensation Martin Odegaard.

The 15-year-old attacking midfielder has burst onto the scene this season, breaking through into the first team at Norwegian champions Stromsgodset and also winning his first senior Norway cap.

Odegaard made his Norway debut on 27th August, turning out against the United Arab Emirates in a 0-0 friendly draw and becoming the youngest ever player to represent the Scandinavian country.

The 15-year-old is now wanted by Europe's elite, though Bayern Munich and Manchester United have been aware of his talent for some time, with Odegaard having spent time training with the pair.

The youngster can also count Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus amongst his admirers.

But according to French broadcaster Eurosport, it is Liverpool and Manchester United who are leading the chase for Odegaard and the pair are set to scrap for his signature.

Stromsgodset are keen to avoid losing the 15-year-old at such an early stage of his career, but could be rendered powerless if Europe's elite flex their muscles.
