Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not aware of Fernando Torres' desire to leave the club this summer.

The Spain striker has been heavily linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge, with Italian outfit AC Milan showing keen interest in securing a loan deal for the player.

However, the Portuguese manager insists that his club are in need of three strikers for the entire season and therefore will definitely have a place for Torres in the squad.

"What we are clear on is that as a club we need three strikers to face the season and Torres is one of them", Mourinho said at a press conference.

Speaking about Torres as a person and a player, the 51-year-old added: "I like him as a person, I like him as a player.

"If he wants to leave, I think it's because he wants to try a new life and new club and probably a new league.

"And if he wants – and at the moment I have no single word about it – I believe it's because he wants to be happier than what he has been over the last weeks."

Mourinho also took time to add that his squad is complete at the moment and unless anything dramatic happens, their stance is not going to change.

"I have believed for a long, long time that our squad is closed. At this moment in time, we are ready for the market to close and for us to start the 1st September."
