Shinji Kagawa is edging towards a move from Manchester United to former club Borussia Dortmund, with claims he could even undergo a medical with the Bundesliga outfit later today.

The Japanese midfielder joined Manchester United from Dortmund in 2012, leaving the Ruhr giants despite their desire to hold onto his services.

Kagawa has flopped at Old Trafford however and failed to nail down a spot in the starting line-up, under a succession of managers.

His fortunes have not improved under new manager Louis van Gaal, who now looks poised to offload him, sending him back to Dortmund.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Dortmund have offered around €10m for the Japan star, who could now even take a medical with his former club today.

Dortmund have remained firm fans of Kagawa and have monitored his situation at Old Trafford, waiting for the right time to strike.

The Bundesliga giants would consider bringing Kagawa back to the club to be a real coup.
