Italian outfit Torino have excluded Arsenal linked Alessio Cerci from their matchday squad against Inter Milan as a move to Atletico Madrid edges closer.

Reports in Italy claim that the Spanish side have submitted an improved bid for the 27-year-old after seeing their initial bid of €12m rejected by Torino.

And now the player has been excluded from the 20-man squad, as negotiations between the two sides continue.

Cerci had been on the radar of a number of clubs, including English giants Arsenal and Italian outfit AC Milan.

"The sale of Cerci is still possible and he's asked to leave. There are still four days to go, let's see", Cairo told Premium Calcio.

He was also called up to the Italian national team in 2013 and has managed an overall 13 appearances for the Azzurri.
