QPR boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that striker Loic Remy is heading to Chelsea to replace Fernando Torres.

Chelsea have loaned Torres to AC Milan on a two-year deal and have moved quickly to secure his replacement in the shape of Remy.

The Blues have met a release clause in the Frenchman's contract, leaving Redknapp powerless to prevent his departure and pulling him from the QPR team to face Sunderland today.

"He was in the team. I just got a phone call about 12 o'clock to say it looks like he is going to be moving", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"The deal looks like it has been done, so I had to make a change.

"He didn't refuse to play, but it's difficult to go out there to play and get your head around it.

"As far as I know [it is Chelsea]", he added.

Remy came close to joining Liverpool earlier this summer, but saw the move collapse due to medical concerns, leading the Reds to buy Mario Balotelli from AC Milan.
