Sunderland are just one step away from completing the signing of Ricardo Alvarez from Inter.

The Black Cats thrashed out an agreement with Inter recently and the Argentine will arrive at the Stadium of Light on loan, with a mandatory purchase option expected to be included in the deal.

That means that should Sunderland survive in the Premier League this term, they will be obliged to sign Alvarez on a permanent basis for a pre-defined fee.

Now the final touches are being put to the deal, which is expected to be quickly confirmed as official, according to Sky Italia.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has been frustrated in his transfer market dealings this summer, but is set to get Alvarez over the line before the transfer window closes.
