Adrien Rabiot is heading increasingly towards Serie A side Roma, with a source close to the player explaining he believes the transfer is set to happen.

The France Under-21 midfielder, who has also strongly interested Arsenal, has just one year left on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain and will not pen an extension.

Rabiot believes he would not receive the regular first team football his development requires if he stays put, with fierce competition for places at PSG.

Roma have made an approach and a bid, putting themselves in pole position, and are expected to scoop up Rabiot for a fee of around €15m.

"In his head it is clear, it will be Roma", a source close to the player was quoted as saying by RMC.

PSG had been keen to keep hold of Rabiot, but have recently lost patience with the midfielder.

Rabiot skipped training on Monday after calling in to explain he had missed his flight, while on Tuesday he arrived late for training and then refused to take part in a group session, complaining of discomfort in his foot.
