Christian Benteke will not be leaving Aston Villa today, despite speculation the Belgian striker could be on the move.

The hitman has been linked with leaving Villa before the transfer window slams shut this evening, with several clubs interested despite the Belgian currently being sidelined through injury.

However, according to Belgian daily HLN, Benteke's agent has indicated that there is no chance his client will leave Villa Park today.

The news will be a boost for Villa boss Paul Lambert, who is desperate to keep hold of Benteke.

The 23-year-old, who is under contract until the summer of 2017 with Aston Villa, hit the back of the net ten times in the Premier League last term.
