Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have agreed a club-record £7m fee with Wigan Athletic for Scottish midfielder James McArthur.

McArthur joined the Latics from Hamilton in 2010 and has made 154 appearances for the club.

He was a crucial part of the Wigan team that won the FA Cup in 2013, beating Manchester City in the final.

Leicester City earlier this summer agreed a fee for the Scot, but pulled out of the deal after they signed Argentine Esteban Cambiasso.

However, the Eagles have moved quickly to agree a deal for the midfielder, according to the Press Association.

McArthur will travel to London later today to undergo a medical and sign on the dotted line for the Eagles.

He has earned 14 international caps for Scotland and will add some experience to the Palace midfield.
