Danish giants Brondby have followed up the signing of Daniel Agger by capturing striker Holmbert Fridjonsson from Celtic.

The Scottish champions have loaned the 21-year-old to Brondby for the season, with the Danish outfit having an option to make the move a permanent one should he impress at the club.

Fridjonsson has struggled to make an impact since joining Celtic in January and will now continue his development in Denmark.

Brondby have been quick to express their delight at snapping up the Icelandic starlet.

Sporting director Per Rud said in a statement: "Holmbert Fridjonsson is a talented striker and we have good knowledge of him since he played in Iceland.

"It will be interesting to see how he has developed at Celtic.

"We do not expect him to enter the first team directly as he is still a young player who needs to develop, but we see great potential in him."
