Southampton have confirmed the arrival of defender Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid, while they have offloaded attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez to Hull City.
Alderweireld links up with Ronald Koeman's men on a season-long loan deal, having failed to force his way into the first team reckoning on a regular basis with Atletico Madrid.
The Belgium international joined Atletico Madrid last summer, but managed only ten appearances in La Liga for Diego Simeone's side.
Meanwhile, the Saints have sent Uruguayan midfielder Ramirez to Hull on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old could not be guaranteed regular first team football and as a result chose to leave for the Tigers.

As per the terms of his loan agreement, Ramirez will not be able to play against Southampton when the two teams meet this season.
