Radamel Falcao appears set to sign for Manchester United before the transfer window closes after agreeing to take a pay cut to make the deal happen.

Manchester United have moved quickly to tie up a deal for the Colombia international and held extensive talks with the striker's agent Jorge Mendes yesterday.

Monaco want to sell Falcao, while several sides have been looking to first loan the hitman ahead of a potential move.

According to Spanish daily AS, Manchester United have met Monaco's demands and agreed to pay €65m to secure the former Atletico Madrid star.

And Falcao himself has agreed to take a yearly wage of €9m, down from his €12m per year at the Stade Louis II, to make the move happen, with a four-year deal on the table for the player at Old Trafford.

Falcao also has other clubs on his tail.

Tracking developments are Manchester City, Valencia and Juventus, but Manchester United at present look to have trumped the trio.
