Serbian striker Stefan Scepovic has pulled the plug on his proposed move to Celtic from Sporting Gijon.

The 24-year-old was on the verge of joining the Scottish champions after he agreed a four-year contract with the club.

Celtic had also arranged for a medical and a work permit was also obtained for the Serbian international.

However, the striker informed the Hoops last night that he has decided against moving to Scotland, according to the BBC.

The news will come as a surprise for manager Ronny Deila who is looking to build a strong squad at Celtic this season.
