Stoke City are moving to complete a loan deal for Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi.

The winger spent last term on loan at the Potters and made a positive impression, leaving Stoke looking to sign Assaidi permanently this summer.

However, both clubs could not reach an agreement after being far apart on their respective valuations of the player.

But Assaidi may well still play his football at the Britannia Stadium this season, with a fresh loan agreement on the cards.

"We didn't expect to be doing anything but Peter Odemwingie got injured and Mark [Hughes] wanted someone to fill that position", Stoke chairman Peter Coates told the BBC.

"Oussama was with us last season and we liked him very much", he added.
