Midfielder Andres Iniesta has been ruled out of Spain's matches against France and Macedonia through injury.

The Barcelona player will miss both games, which take place on 4th and 8th September, with La Furia Roja boss Vicente del Bosque confirming that he is not planning to call up a replacement.

Iniesta was called up by Del Bosque on Friday, but had to pull out of further training due to ongoing knee problems.

The 30-year-old did not feature in Sunday's La Liga clash between Barcelona and Villarreal either following his injury concerns.

How quickly Iniesta will return to training will now depend on the speed at which he will recover from the injury, with Barcelona keen for the player not to have an extended absence.
