England manager Roy Hodgson is happy with Danny Welbeck's move from Manchester United to Arsenal as he feels it will hand the striker regular playing time.

Welbeck was on occasion on the fringes at Old Trafford and when he did play it was rarely in his preferred spot of central striker. That now looks set to change with his £16m move to Arsenal.

Speaking at a press conference, Hodgson backed the transfer, saying: "Hopefully Danny Welbeck will get more starts and more playing time.

"I'm pleased for him and I think Arsenal have signed a good player."

Welbeck has been included in Hodgson's England squad for upcoming games against Norway and Switzerland, two matches the manager is aiming to win.

"We would like to get two good results, starting tomorrow night, and get that feel-good factor back", he said, before indicating the friendly against Norway will see a different approach to the European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.

"It will be a young team for Norway", Hodgson added.
