Celtic assistant manager John Collins believes the capture of striker Stefan Scepovic is good news for the Bhoys.

The Serbian's switch to Celtic from Sporting Gijon was full of twists and turns on transfer deadline day after he agreed terms and passed a medical with the Scottish club, only to then back out of the deal in favour of joining Getafe.

However, that move collapsed and Scepovic had a change of heart over joining Celtic, linking up with the Bhoys before the window slammed shut.

And Collins is delighted to have bagged the striker, telling the club's site: "He is 6ft 1" so he's different from the strikers we have. He is good in the air and attacks crosses and gives us another option.

"His goalscoring record is very good and his stats tell you he can score and create goals.

"It's competition for places at the top of the pitch and that is what we want."

The 24-year-old scored 23 goals in 39 games in the Spanish second tier for Sporting Gijon last term and has seven goals in 12 appearances for Serbia to his name.
