Alexandre Lacazette has handed Lyon a big boost by signalling his intention to sign a new contract at the club once he returns from international duty with France.

Lacazette, who was Lyon's leading goalscorer last season, was linked with Arsenal and Liverpool over the summer, and has been offered an extension until 2018 by Les Gones.

And he intends to put pen to paper, stressing the importance of continuing his development in familiar surroundings and showing last season was not a flash in the pan.

"It is important for me to continue at the club at which I developed and repeat what I did last year", Lacazette was quoted as saying by France Football.

The striker also stated his view that Lyon remain "a big French club and though they were knocked out in the Europa League, they remain a major European club too."
