Robin van Persie has expressed his delight at Manchester United's signing of Radamel Falcao and explained it fits with his own personal philosophy perfectly.

Falcao joined the Red Devils on a season-long loan from Monaco last night, with the deal also including an option for Manchester United to make his move a permanent one for €55m should he impress at Old Trafford.

Now fans are excited at the prospect of seeing Falcao link up with Van Persie – and the Dutchman has given his blessing to the move.

Indeed, Van Persie believes a club such as Manchester United must always aim to recruit the very best world football has to offer.

"I'm pleased with his arrival, he makes us better", Van Persie told FOX Sports.

"At a top club you should always go for the best, which also fits my philosophy", the striker continued.

"Falcao has to fight for his place, just as I have to.

"We must also fight with Wayne Rooney and James Wilson, who can also play."
