Burnley have confirmed the signing of England Under-21 international Michael Keane from Manchester United on loan, subject to Premier League approval.

In a very late deal last night, the central defender agreed to join the newly promoted Premier League side and will stay with the Clarets until January.

Keane started his youth career with the Red Devils before joining the senior team in 2011. He made his first Premier League appearance in Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Sunderland on 24th August.

A lack of first-team opportunities meant that Keane was loaned out to Leicester in 2012/13, followed by loan stints at Derby County and Blackburn in the English Championship.

The 21-year-old, who was not in Louis van Gaal's plans at Old Trafford, will now hope to get more top-tier experience under his belt before returning to Manchester United in the new year.
