Chelsea have confirmed that Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta has penned a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta, who signed for the Blues in 2012 from French giants Marseille, has committed his future to Jose Mourinho's men by putting pen to paper on the new long-term deal.

The Spaniard has flourished at Chelsea and proven an important part of Mourinho's defensive unit, an association which is now set to continue until 2019.

Azpilicueta has so far made a total of 95 appearances for Chelsea since landing at Stamford Bridge.

His first full season at Stamford Bridge saw him lift the Europa League and help the club qualify for the Champions League.
