Late last night Manchester United completed the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco, snapping up the striker on a season-long loan deal.

The agreement also contains a purchase option, meaning if Falcao impresses at Old Trafford, Manchester United can pay Monaco €55m to make his move a permanent one. All eyes will be on the Colombian, who suffered a serious knee injury at the start of this year, which saw him miss the World Cup, and restricted his Monaco appearances to 22 in total, with 13 goals.

The deal was only announced late last night as Manchester United worked past the clock to sign Falcao before the 1am deadline, having put in a deal sheet to the Premier League which bought them an extra two hours.

And assistant manager Ryan Giggs was at the club's training base to welcome Falcao to Manchester United, the former Atletico Madrid striker's new home.
