Lewis Holtby is aiming to help Hamburg return to the upper reaches of the Bundesliga, having completed a loan move from Tottenham to the northern German club, and explained the sausages on offer were an added bonus.

The Germany midfielder was snapped up by Spurs from Schalke in January 2013, but struggled to cement a spot in the side and was loaned out to Fulham for the latter half of last term.

He is on the move once again now and has headed back to the Bundesliga, this time with Hamburg, who only narrowly avoided relegation last season and have one point from two games this term.

And Holtby is setting his mind to helping Hamburg move forward by playing a full part on their project, telling the club's site: "[Sporting director] Dietmar Beiersdorfer is building a project here and I want to be part of it.

"I want to help move this historic club forward, even if naturally it takes time. And I want to play every week in the Bundesliga once again and perform in the Bundesliga."

Asked about the difference between the Bundesliga and the Premier League, Holtby had an amusing reply.

"The biggest difference is the sausage you can get in the stadium.

"No, seriously, both are absolute top leagues in which very, very good football is played.

"I really enjoyed my time in England and I soaked up the atmosphere."
