Former Southampton defender Vegard Forren has dubbed England captain Wayne Rooney "chubby" and insisted he is looking forward to locking horns with the striker.

Forren's Norway meet England in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday night and the occasion will be an opportunity for the defender to showcase his talents after a short and anonymous spell in the Premier League at Southampton.

The defender joined Southampton in January last year, but could not manage a single first team appearance for the Saints and returned to former club Molde shortly afterwards.

"Rooney looks a bit chubby", Forren told Norwegian broadcaster TV2.

"They're obviously good players, and many of them are in good form already after three games in the Premier League but we're looking forward to it", he added.

"It's almost a bit scary but it's in games like this and experiences like this you want to be able to contribute so I'm looking forward to it."

And the 26-year-old feels Norway are good enough to make an impact against England.

"We know we're a good team so there's no reason for us to walk around thinking we can't stop them."

Forren has won eleven caps for Norway at international level since making his debut for the Scandinavian country in 2012.
