Former Blackburn Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen has claimed that Manchester United and Liverpool target Martin Odegaard is one of the most talented youngsters he has ever seen.

He has already earned his first cap for Norway, when he played the full 90 minutes against the United Arab Emirates in an international friendly last month.

There were reports on transfer deadline day that Manchester United were keen end their summer spending by making a splash for the prodigious 15-year-old.

And Pedersen, who played nine seasons in England, said that for his age, Odegaard’s knowledge about football is "unbelievable".

"For his age he is unbelievable – his knowledge of the game is unbelievable and his technical skills are fantastic", the former Blackburn winger was quoted as saying by ITV.

Pedersen warned that the youngster still needs time to develop but admits that he is stunned by the talent's potential.

"You have to realise he is only 15 years old and he needs time to build up his physique but the potential is unbelievable, I have never seen a player with so much potential.

"He is with the under-21s and hopefully he will get a feel for international football there but it is not the last we will see of him, that's for sure."

The 15-year-old has already made 17 appearances for Stromsgodset in Norway, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
