New Brazil coach Dunga has appointed Neymar as the captain of the team to face Colombia in a friendly this evening.

Dunga decided to leave out Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva, who captained Brazil in the World Cup, for the round of friendlies and thus the captaincy was up for grabs.

David Luiz was also one of the contenders to lead the side out at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, but the former Brazil captain chose Neymar.

At 22, Neymar will become one of the youngest ever captains in Brazil’s history.

Neymar was forced to sit out Brazil’s humiliating defeat against Germany in the World Cup semi-final due to a back injury that he sustained in the quarter-final match against Colombia.
