Former Birmingham City centre forward Nikola Zigic could soon be plying his trade in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old, whose contract with the Championship side expired at the end of last season, recently claimed that his agent had received interest from Arsenal with both parties discussing a deal until the last days of the transfer window.

Negotiations are said to have then broken down following Arsenal's signing of Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck for £16m, as Arsene Wenger chose the England international instead.

Zigic however is confident that he will soon be wearing a club shirt again.

He said last week: "I am still looking [at] options. We're talking to several clubs and I think we will make a decision soon."

Zigic is determined to continue his career in England, with the Premier League being his favoured option, and has instructed his agents to put a deal in place, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

As a free agent, the Serbian will be able to join a new club outside the transfer window.
