Radamel Falcao has thanked Monaco for allowing him to move to Manchester United this summer.

The Colombia international striker has joined the Red Devils on a season-long loan deal, with the English club having an option to make his move a permanent one for a set fee of €55m at the end of the campaign.

Falcao only joined Monaco last summer from Atletico Madrid, but the principality club have quickly allowed him to leave.

And for that Falcao is grateful.

"I want to thank the French people for their support and the time I spent with them. My daughter was born in this country, so France and Monaco will always be in my heart", he told Telefoot.

"I want to thank the people of Monaco for helping me in these moments and giving me the opportunity to go to Manchester United."

Falcao suffered a serious knee injury with Monaco earlier this year and was restricted to just 19 appearances for the Ligue 1 club last term.

As a result of his injury he also missed the World Cup.
