West Ham United skipper Kevin Nolan has tipped new signing Alex Song to be a success at Upton Park.

The defensive midfielder, who joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer, is yet to make his debut for Sam Allardyce’s side.

However, Song has previous experience of playing in the Premier League, having represented Arsenal between 2006 and 2012.

And Nolan, who feels the Cameroon international will be eager to succeed at West Ham, believes the 27-year-old’s experience of playing at top clubs will come in handy for the Hammers.

"One thing that Alex has is experience at two top clubs, so that's what he can bring to us”, he explained to the club’s official site.

“What he achieved at Arsenal and then Barcelona can only be a good thing for us.

“That's what we're hoping. The professional that he is, he'll want to do well here."

Song, who started his playing career at Bastia, joined Arsenal on loan in the 2005/06 campaign before making his move permanent the next year.

After making 204 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, Song decided to ply his trade in Spain with Barcelona in 2012.

The midfield enforcer, who has 43 caps for Cameroon to his name, represented France at the Under-16 level.
