Brazilian legend Pele has backed former World Cup winning captain Dunga to rebuild the Selecao.

Dunga’s second stint as Brazil coach started with friendly wins against Colombia and Ecuador respectively.

Brazil suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat against Germany in the World Cup semi-final followed by another 3-0 loss to Holland, which resulted in Luiz Felipe Scolari losing his job earlier this summer.

And Pele admits that the World Cup was an unmitigated disaster for Brazil.

However, the legend is convinced that Dunga is the right man to rebuild the shattered confidence of the Selecao.

“The World Cup was a disaster because we all expected something else, but football is strange and it always has the knack of surprising us”, Pele was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“I know Dunga personally and he is a serious man.

“I am convinced that he is right personal to rebuild the national team.”

Pele won the World Cup three times with Brazil, in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
