Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho has claimed that the club can do well this season even without striker Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian superstar joined Manchester United on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day after spending only one season at the Ligue 1 side, having signed from Atletico Madrid last summer.

An anterior cruciate ligament injury restricted him to only 19 appearances last season, although he still managed to score eleven goals.

The former Chelsea defender believes that Monaco will not miss the services of Falcao and said that there are enough quality players in the squad who can ensure a good season for the club.

“Some important players left the club this summer”, Carvalho told reporters.

“There are quality players in the squad who can make a difference this season.”

With a win, a draw and two defeats under new coach Leonardo Jardim, Monaco are fifteenth in the Ligue 1 table on four points.
