Former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen admits he is weighing up an offer from MLS side Philadelphia Union, but insists he has taken no decision yet.

The American side, who have endured a poor league campaign, are nonetheless in the final of the US Open Cup, which takes place later this month.

And they have put their search for a new coach on hold until after their clash with Seattle Sounders.

That is something which suits Meulensteen, who has still not come to a concrete decision over his future.

"I'm still weighing up my options", he told Voetbal International.

"All the reports that I am already going to the club are a bit premature. I will not deny that something is going on though.

"But Philadelphia Union have indicated that the search for a new head coach has had a stop put to it. Nick Sakiewicz [CEO] wants his club to completely focus on the cup final next Tuesday against Seattle Sounders, only then will they decide on the future."

Meulensteen does admit though that he is intrigued by the MLS.

"The MLS, I find it an extremely interesting competition that continues to grow.

"It is relatively young, but the infrastructure and the organisation is at a high level."
