Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that he is pleased with Ross Barkley’s progress from his knee injury.

The England international, who signed a new long-term deal with the Toffees in the summer, is yet to feature in the present campaign after injuring his knee on the eve of his side’s season opener against Leicester City last month.

Barkley was in great form for Everton last season and the midfielder was also included in Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad.

And Martinez, who feels Barkley is ahead of schedule on the recovery front, explained that the starlet is halfway through his rehabilitation period.

“Ross is progressing well”, he told the club’s official site.
