Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie is brimming with confidence over the side's chances of claiming victory against Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.

Paul Lambert's men have a good recent record at Liverpool, not having lost at the ground since 2010. And Hendrie, who feels Aston Villa are in fine form at present, believes the good run can continue.

Hendrie, who played for Aston Villa between 1993 and 2007, told the club's site, when asked about taking three points from Anfield: "I don't see why not.

"I think Liverpool had a great season last year, they had a great chance to go and win the league.

"But we've done well at Anfield over the previous seasons, going there and winning and scoring", he continued.

"I relished going to Anfield and by the looks of it the boys do because every time we've gone there we have performed well, worked hard as a team.

"And with the confidence we've got at the moment….someone said we're 12/1. I'd certainly be putting my money on us."

Aston Villa drew 2-2 at Anfield last season, while the season before they grabbed a 3-1 victory at the ground.

Lambert's men have lost just once in their last five visits, winning two and drawing two.
