Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur are the toughest opponents his side have faced so far this season.

Poyet's men, who have so far locked horns with West Brom, Manchester United, Birmingham and QPR, headed into today's clash against Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs side hoping to clock up a win at the Stadium of Light.

They quickly fell behind in the second minute when Nacer Chadli scored, but struck back through a classy Adam Johnson solo effort in the fourth minute.

Spurs retook the lead in the third minute of the second half through Christian Eriksen, however Poyet's men earned a share of the spoils through a Harry Kane own goal with less than ten minutes left.

And Poyet was full of praise for Spurs post match, believing Pochettino's side had presented his men with a very tough test indeed.

"It was an incredible game. Without a doubt the most difficult we have had. I thought we played better but the opposition was the best we have played so far", the Uruguayan tactician told the BBC.

"We had to work very hard for this point. Sometimes it's not about tactics it's about the will to get something. We nearly nicked it at the end. That would have not been fair on Spurs."

And Poyet insists he is not panicking about the fact his side have yet to win in the Premier League this term, explaining things will get easier.

"I can tell you we are very realistic here and we know who we are playing against.

"We will get the three points in the next couple of weeks."
