SC Cambuur coach Henk de Jong has revealed praise headed in his direction recently from none other than Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, something he will not forget in a hurry.

De Jong helped keep minnows Cambuur in the Eredivisie last term, while this season he has them sitting a lofty fourth after four games, having won two and drawn two. Along with PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente, Cambuur are unbeaten in the Eredivisie so far.

And his work has not gone unnoticed by Van Gaal, who took time at the recent Dutch football awards to show his appreciation of the 50-year-old.

"Just recently, at the football gala, I was tapped on the shoulder", De Jong told the Algemeen Dagblad.

"Who do you think it was? It was the coach of Manchester United, Louis van Gaal.

"He said: 'Henk, you do fantastic with Cambuur'.

"That was great, it was unbelievable."

De Jong may be hoping against all odds to go up against Van Gaal's Manchester United at some point in the future, if he can lead Cambuur to a spot in Europe for next term.

Van Gaal has revealed he is aiming to finish in the top three in the Premier League with Manchester United, but faces tough opposition to achieve that goal.
